Director Rahul Dholakia’s film Lamhaa which touches upon the sensitive Kashmir issue has been banned in the Middle East. The movie, set to release this Friday, won’t be screened in UAE, Bahrain, Qatar and Kuwait.
It’s not yet clear what exactly did the Censor Board in the abovementioned countries found objectionable in the film.
Bipasha Basu, who plays a Kashmiri girl in the film, is shocked at the development.
She tweeted: “Ban on honest film? What happened to freedom of expression. Sadly, people of Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, Oman and UAE won't be able to watch our film.”
Even Sanjay Dutt, who plays a sharp shooter in the film, shared Bipasha’s disappointment.
“First, the film could not be premiered in Kashmir and now the Middle East has banned the film,” Dutt wrote on Twitter. |
