Tere Bin Laden - Movie Review
Laden with Laughs

Osama Bin Laden. The name that strikes fear into the hearts of mortals could actually be a source of endless laughs is something that nobody had thought. But the madcap idea popped up in the head of writer-director Abhishek Sharma, and the result is Tere Bin Laden, a satirical comedy about the most wanted man in the world.

The film not just spoofs Osama but also takes tongue-in-cheek digs at Amreeka and its war on terror. To top it, there are a lot of guffaws to be had from the situation in Pakistan where a shady immigration office is shown with the name Lashkar-e-Amreeka.

So get ready for a one-hour-forty-minute funride laden with laughs and chuckles galore.

Ali (Ali Zafar) is a Pakistani television reporter with a dream of making America his home. However, all his attempts at getting a visa to his land of dreams come to a naught. It’s then he comes up with a goofy idea of making big bucks to get his ticket to the US.

On one of his assignments, he chances upon a poultry farmer Noora (Pradhuman Singh) who has a striking resemblance to Osama Bin Laden.

Ali, with the help of a make-up artist (Sugandha Garg), a laidback cameraman (Nikhil Ratnaparkhi), an Arabic scriptwriter (Chirag Vohra) and DJ-cum-dubbing artist (Rahul Singh), transform Noora into Osama Bin Laden and record video messages to sell to the TRP-hungry news channels. But the scam snowballs into something bigger as an American agent (Barry John) arrives in Pakistan to trace Osama.

Tere Bin Laden may be low on technical finesse and sleek look, the movie however has at its core a good script littered with loads of funny moments. The performances by Piyush Mishra (as a TV producer), Pradhuman Singh and Ali Zafar bring the house down in a number of hilarious sequences. You can’t cease to chuckle at the shots of Osama picking his nose, Osama playing with chickens, Osama taking a leak, or Osama fiddling with fake grenades or dummy AK-47.

It’s laughter guaranteed from start to end. Go have a blast in the name of Osama.
