I loved the pain and loneliness of Susanna: Priyanka Chopra

In this week’s upcoming release 7 Khoon Maaf, Priyanka Chopra plays Susanna, an enigmatic woman who marries 7 times to search for true love.

Talking about her role in the Vishal Bhardwaj film, Priyanka tells a news agency that she was taken in by the character of Susanna the first time she read Ruskin Bond’s short story ‘Susanna’s Seven Husbands’ on which the film is based.

“When Vishal sir gave me this short story to read, I could empathise with the pain and tragedy that she had to go through. The only thing that she looked for in life was love and this is what that kept evading her,” Priyanka is quoted as saying by a news agency.

It was the pain of her character that captivated Priyanka.

“What I loved about the story of was the pain and loneliness that made her the kind of woman that she eventually turned out to be,” Priyanka added.

This is the second time Priyanka is working with director Vishal Bhardwaj after his 2009 thriller Kaminey. The actress says ‘7 Khoon Maaf’ is full of surprises.

“This is one wicked film and there are many surprises. It is an intense film laced with humour but at the same time it enthralls. It is neither frightful nor horror. In fact I won't even call it a thriller. Honestly speaking, the film is in a space of its own,” she is quoted as saying.

The movie stars a host of male actors including Neil Nitin Mukesh, John Abraham, Irrfan Khan, Anu Kapoor and Naseeruddin Shah.
