With Payal Rohatgi claiming that director Dibakar Banerjee made an indecent proposal to her in exchange of a role in his film Shanghai, it’s Anurag Kashyap who has jumped to his colleague’s defence. He claims that young directors don’t sleep with girls in return for roles.
“I stand by Dibakar. Among this generation of directors, not a single director will cast anyone just because he gets to have sex with that person. None of them would ever compromise with the integrity of their films,” Kashyap is quoted as saying by a news agency.
Speaking further, he added that the young crop of directors are uncompromising when it comes to choosing right actors for their films.
“I don't think directors like Dibakar, Anurag (Basu) or Imtiaz (Ali) would give a role to anyone who was sleeping with them. We all have casting directors. In the first place, most of the directors have stopped meeting actors,” said Anurag who is in a steady relationship with Kalki Koechlin, his co-star from Dev D.
