Rekha and Vidya Balan’s roles axed in Rajinikanth film?
Three leading ladies opposite the lone Rajnikanth in a triple role may have hogged too much footage. Perhaps that’s why the roles of the female leads in the superstar’s next film Rana have been chopped down.

The film will have Rajinikanth playing three characters and Deepika Padukone, Vidya Balan and Rekha were recently finalized to play the love interests of the young, middle-aged and old Rajini in the film. But director K S Ravikumar made changes in the script after which the roles of Rekha and Vidya were considerably shortened.

Consequently, Rekha has bowed out of the project. There are reports that say that she was being paid below her expectations. Reportedly Rekha demanded a hefty fee which the producers were not willing to shell out.

Moreover, even Vidya is likely to be dropped from the project following the changes in the script.

Director K S Ravikumar, however, states that Vidya’s ouster is not final as the script is still being worked upon. He doesn’t deny that the final script may have Vidya in a substantial role. Deepika will for sure have good footage in the film.

Guess we’ll wait till the script of Rana is ready.
