'Sholay' in 3D - do you approve or not?
Should the cult classic ‘Sholay’ be tampered with?

Certain masterpieces of art should be left untouched, as the super debacle of that cinematic monstrosity named Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag so verily proved.

Now, Sholay, the cult classic of Hindi cinema and many might even say the best Hindi film to date, has captured the imagination of filmmaker Subhash Ghai.

Well, worry not... Ghai is not remaking the 1975 film but is only planning to convert it into 3D format.

Reports say that Ghai's banner Mukta Arts has collaborated with filmmaker Ketan Mehta's Maya Digital to undertake the project.

“We have a department working with Maya Digital to convert Sholay to 3D,” Ghai tells a news agency.

Apparently, the Sippys (Ramesh Sippy directed ‘Sholay’) aren’t happy with Ghai’s decision. It’s not clear if they are unhappy because Ghai’s tampering with the cinematic masterpiece or because they haven’t been kept in the loop about Ghai’s plan to convert Sholay into 3D.

Whatever the case, we would like your opinion. Should Sholay be converted into 3D?
