Lara Dutta and Vinay Pathak team up for a road film titled Chalo Dilli. The film is a light-hearted comedy about two strangers undertaking a long journey together from Mumbai to Delhi.

The film is co-produced by Lara’s husband Mahesh Bhupathi and is directed by Shashank Shah. Yana Gupta has a special item song “Laila O Laila”.

Synopsis

The road of life twists and turns and no two directions are ever the same. Yet, our lessons come from the journey, not the destination.

Dynamic go-getter Mikhija Banerjee (Lara Dutta) thinks she has her life totally under control. This highly successful Sr. Vice President in investment banking with a top multinational bank, does not compromise and is used to getting her way in life.

On her way to Delhi for a brief halt at her home and husband, before heading off to an international conference, Mikhija misses her flight, and much to her chagrin, ends up travelling on a low-cost airline which gets stranded at Jaipur airport due to a technical glitch.

Here Mikhija’s life collides with the boisterous and over enthusiastic Manu Gupta (Vinay Shukla). A portly, Gutka eating, expletive spewing, Ladies Dress material seller from Karol Bagh in Old Delhi who is travelling back to Delhi from Mumbai.

Manu is everything that Mikhija isn’t. Loud, light-hearted and extremely smart. And at times oversmart, which is what eventually lands them up in big trouble. Big Trouble.

Now begins a bizarre journey full of adventure, madness and crazy comic moments. A hilarious roller coaster journey through air, road, rail from Mumbai via Jaipur to Delhi. It’s a journey where Mikhija and Manu get to see real India, its colourful and quirky people.

The film is set to release on April 29.
