Deepika Padukone excited about Rana
Deepika starts filming for Rana in Chennai, she will be in a 17th century look with a south Indian touch.

Bollywood beauty Deepika Padukone will be starring opposite superstar Rajinikanth in her debut Tamil flick Rana and as she describes it this is something not even she could have dreamt of.

Rana is a period film set in the 17th century and Deepika’s look and costumes have been designed by Neeta Lulla, as Deepika says, "It's a 17th century look with a south Indian touch."

The movie has started filming at a studio in Vadapalani and first on the cards is a song sequence, "We are shooting a song sequence to a number tuned by A R Rahman, the composer of the film," says Deepika.

Deepika Padukone had always wanted to debut in Kollywood with a big film and had been listening to scripts for a while. Then Rana came along, that too with superstar Rajinikanth, guess there was not much thinking about this one as Deepika now puts it "I decided that this is the one for me. I think it's destiny."

Says Deepika, "Rajini sir wished me success at the pooja. I'm eagerly awaiting to start work on the scenes that feature both of us." Deepika may have to wait just a bit longer for her wish to come true as the first day of the shoot of Rana was quite hectic for Rajinikanth who was hospitalized for a few hours during the day. Though Rajini is well, there is word that filming may be delayed by a week.

The film has Rajinikanth in a triple role. It will be made in three languages - Tamil, Telugu and Hindi.
