Vikram Lamba held and being questioned for carrying a large sum of foreign currency

Mallika Sherawat’s brother detained at Mumbai airport Mallika Sherawat
Mallika Sherawat’s brother Vikram Lamba was detained at Mumbai international airport for carrying more foreign currency than allowed.

According to custom officials, Vikram Lamba, returning from London via Dubai on an Emirates flight, was detained while he was crossing the green channel at the airport. He was held for not declaring some dutiable goods and also carrying the foreign currency beyond permissible limit.

A team led by custom official Sameer Wankhede is said to be interrogating Vikram and ascertaining the value of foreign currency and goods he was bringing into the country.

This is the third time in a month that a celebrity associated with Bollywood has been held and questioned by custom officials. Earlier Minissha Lamba was detained for several hours after she failed to declare diamond jewellery worth to 30 to 40 lakh upon her return from Cannes. Likewise, Bipasha Basu was detained for duty evasion and had to cough up Rs. 13,000 when she recently returned from London after a movie shoot.

Vikram Lamba had co-produced Mallika Sherawat’s film Hisss and is known well in Bollywood circles. Reports say that he’s being booked under Foreign Exchange Management Act.
