Shit happens! Says the punchline of Delhi Belly starring Imran Khan, Vir Das and Kunaal Roy Kapur as three Delhiites.

The actresses are Poorna Jagannathan and Shenaz Treasurywala. The film is touted as a sex comedy with so explicit a content that Ranbir Kapoor -- to whom the role was first offered -- squirmed at the thought of playing the leading man Tashi, a character who swears liberally and trips on porn.

Character Sketches:

Imran Khan as Tashi

Imran Khan plays Tashi, a journalist. He is a headstrong guy who is going to get married in a month. However, he’s still not sure if he wants to settle down and be tethered as a family man. He’s not even sure whether his fiancée is the girl he wants to marry.

Vir Das as Arup

Arup is a graphic designer. He is bogged down by personal and professional issues. His girlfriend has just dumped him and his boss keeps chiding him for lack of creativity. Arup doesn’t know who he wants to kill first, his girlfriend or his boss.

Kunaal Roy Kapur as Nitin

Nitin is a photographer who loves to pamper his taste buds. However, a meal of tandoori chicken from a roadside dhaba gives him the worst case of Delhi belly.

Synopsis

The film tells the story of three friends: Tashi, Arup and Nitin. Tashi is a journalist, Nitin is a photographer and Arup a graphic designer with an ad firm. The trio feel the need to move on to bigger and better jobs.

Tashi has a girlfriend and there is a lot of pressure for him to get married, but he’s not sure whether he wants to.

The plot thickens when Nitin gets a very bad case of Delhi belly (upset stomach) and as a result triggers off a series of really strange events that get the guys caught up in a very big criminal scam-heist kind of thing.

From there on out everyone trying to kill everyone - everyone on the run and the three guys having just no clue of what is going on.

The film is directed by Abhinay Deo and slated to release on July 1.
