The passing away of the National Award winning filmmaker Mani Kaul has come as a shock to many celebrities in Hindi film industry.
Shekhar Kapur, one of the cutting edge filmmakers of India who was on very friendly terms with Kaul, writes on his Twitter page: “The passing away of friends reminds you of the value of this moment. RIP Mani Kaul. Friend. Director. A life passionately dedicated to exploring the outer edges of the art of film. Will b missed.”
Mani Kaul died on Wednesday morning (1 am) in his home in Gurgaon near New Delhi. He was 66.
Anupam Kher, who also had a friendly relationship with Kaul, wrote on Twitter: “Mani Kaul was one of the pioneer of new wave cinema in India. And a great conversationalist. Will miss his persona. RIP.”
