South actor, choreographer and director Prabhu Deva and his now ex-wife Latha were granted divorce by family court in Chennai on Thursday.

The divorce was finalized on the mutual consent of Prabhu Deva and Ramalath (or Latha). The two got married in 1995 but have been living separately since January 2008, when the rumours of an alleged affair between Prabhu Deva and actress Nayantara started coming out.

In the divorce settlement, Prabhu Deva has paid Latha a permanent alimony of Rs. 10 lakh and also transferred to her name a property in Anna Nagar and two cars. Prabhu Deva has also transferred a 22-cent land at Injambakkam village and his property at 'Alekhyas Kaushik Meadows' in the names of his two children. He will also bear the cost of their education and marriage.

The court also granted Prabhu the right to meet his children as and when he wishes to.

The divorce between Prabhu Deva and Latha has come after a lot of dirty linen was washed in public. Doubts about their troubled marriage were cast away when Latha filed a petition for the restoration of her conjugal rights. She openly accused the actress Nayanthara of stealing her husband and also sought a restraint order to prevent Prabhu Deva from meeting and marrying Nayantara.

Well, now that Prabhu Deva is divorced and Nayantara has just finished the shoot of her film Sri Rama Rajyam, the way is clear for the couple to tie the knot.
