Box office report: New releases go unnoticed; Singham still strong
The multiple small-budget films that released on Friday failed to attract audiences to theatres. Rather it is Singham that’s still going strong at box office.

I Am Kalam, despite rave reviews, remained poor in terms of collection. The absence of a known star in the film is certainly a drawback. In comparison, Chala Mussaddi - Office Office, a movie adaptation of the television sitcom of the same name, fared somewhat better. But the other releases like Chhutanki and Warning were total washouts.

Meanwhile, Singham continues to attract footfalls to theatres. On Friday, the film rounded off its two-week run at theatres with a nett collection of Rs. 73 crores. It is expected to enjoy a good run till the coming Friday and expected to touch the Rs. 90 crore mark by the end of its third week. A SUPERHIT.

All eyes are now fixed on August 12, when Prakash Jha’s film Aarakshan, which has already begun raking up controversies, will hit the theatres. Since August 13 and 15 are holidays (because of Rakhi and Independence Day, respectively), the film will enjoy a long weekend and expectedly register a good opening at theatres.
