UTV denies that any actress has been signed up for ‘Heroine’

Kareena Kapoor not yet in <i>Heroine</i>!
The flip-flop continues. After the confirmation from Kareena Kapoor that she’s doing Madhur Bhandarkar’s next film Heroine, a statement from the UTV, the banner behind the movie, dismisses that anyone has been cast for the role yet.

The statement comes in the wake of a tabloid report on Wednesday that Kareena Kapoor demanded a whopping Rs. 10 crores for her role in Heroine, but after a bit of haggling by the production house she settled for Rs. 8 crores, making her the top earning actress in Bollywood.

However, UTV rubbishes the report.

“We would like to clarify that no casting has been finalised for Heroine at all,” said the statement.

The statement also denied that Kareena was paid Rs. 8 crore for the film.

“We further wish to state that no financial terms have been agreed upon and definitely not even remotely close to the figures quoted in the article today.”

The casting for the lead role in Heroine has seen repeated changes. Kareena Kapoor was the original choice for the role, but she did not sign the film and Aishwarya Rai was consequently roped in. Aishwarya shot for the film for ten days after which her pregnancy was announced to the world. A dejected Madhur Bhandarkar shelved the film but negotiations began with Kareena Kapoor to step into the movie.

Kareena herself had told a news daily that the role in Heroine was hers from the start. We wonder how she will react to this statement from UTV.
