Box office report: New releases fall flat
The lull at the box office this weekend was quite telling. None of the three releases -- Not A Love Story, Sahi Dhandhe Galat Bande and Chatur Singh Two Star -- managed to draw the movie buffs to theatres.

A long weekend often promises many bums on seats but this weekend turned out to be lacklustre at box office. Not A Love Story, which has been in the eye of a controversy, failed to get the expected response and managed a paltry collection of Rs. 2.25 crore over its first weekend.

Majority of the critics panned the film and the fact that the national capital Delhi and many parts of India have been gripped by a wave of anti-corruption protests didn’t work in the film’s favour because the crowds kept away from theatres.

Chatur Singh Two Star, starring Sanjay Dutt, too scraped through the weekend with an unimpressive collection of Rs. 1.50 crore.

Sahi Dhandhe Galat Bhande was the worst of the lot with just Rs. 30 lakh over the weekend.

The coming Friday would see multiple releases, but it’s Salman Khan’s Bodyguard that has everyone bubbling with anticipation. The film comes out on August 31, which is Wednesday.
