Miss India 2011 Vasuki Sunkavalli accused of copying tweets
She may be competing with the beauties from several nations for the coveted title of Miss Universe, but it seems Miss India Universe 2011 Vasuki Sunkavalli still needs some Twitter training. The beauty queen was recently accused of copying tweets by a US columnist.

It came to light on Tuesday when some of the tweets of Vasuki were found to be identical to the posts tweeted by the US-based columnist Sadanand Dhume. Vasuki Sunkavalli, who was chosen to represent India at Miss Universe 2011 contest through Sushmita Sen’s I Am She pageant, soon found herself in the eye of controversy when Dhume wrote, “Beauty pageant ethics ain’t what they used to be. At least 7 of Miss India Universe 2011 @vasukisunkavali’s 29-odd tweets lifted from me…”

Vasuki, unaware of her inadvertent act, replied that she thought it’s okay to posts someone else’s tweets. But the smart beauty was supposed to retweet, instead she was copying blatantly from Dhume’s twitter page. She then admitted, “It wasnt accidental. can’t possibly cut copy AND paste accidentally now can I? just dint know the technical know how of “retweeting”."


The spokesperson for I Am She says, “Everyone is prone to making and learning from mistakes, including public figures.”

Though it wasn’t a big issue, the international press just lapped up the news including Wall Street Journal. Now there is a new term called ‘twagiarism’!
