Mahesh Babu’s film Dookudu has emerged as the blockbuster of the year with staggering collections at the box office in India and abroad. Naturally, our Bollywood filmmakers especially Salman Khan and co. are not blind to its stupendous success. But now the buzz is that the ‘Dookudu’ director himself wants to remake it in Hindi with none other than Salman.
While talking to a tabloid, Kona Venkat, who has worked on Ready in Telugu and Hindi, and is also associated with Anees Bazmee’s No Entry sequel and Sohail Khan’s Sher Khan, confirms the news. “Sreenu Vytla (Dookudu director), who has directed ‘Ready’ in Telugu, is keen to remake ‘Dookudu’ in Hindi with Salman bhai.”
The movie is also a winner at the overseas market. As per reports, Mahesh Babu’s film ‘Dookudu’ has earned more than Rs. 30 crore so far. It has collected 82,000 dollars at a multiplex in Virginia, US, making Brad Pitt’s Moneyball the only movie to surpass it financially.
It’s now learnt that the Telugu ‘Dookudu’ was written keeping Salman in mind. Though Mahesh Babu’s film is made on a cost of Rs. 35 crore, the budget for the Bollywood version with Salman is said to be Rs. 60 crore.
Ever since ‘Dookudu’ released, Bollywood producers and actors are vying for the remake rights which is believed to be over Rs. 3 crore. But everything is on hold till Salman Khan decides on ‘Dookudu’ remake.
