Rascals, starring Sanjay Dutt and Ajay Devgan as two conmen, opened well at the box office with its release on Dussehra, on Thursday.
The movie saw a limited release but managed to rake in a decent collection of Rs. 7.5 crore on the opening day. As the release broadened on Friday, the collection is also expected to rise. All in all, the film is witnessing the occupancy of around 60 to 70 percent. In its four-day weekend, the movie is expected to touch or even cross the Rs. 30 crore mark, this despite not-so-flattering reviews from the critics.
On the other hand, the other two releases of the week, Love Breakups Zindagi and Soundtrack had a tepid start on Friday. Of the two, Love Breakups Zindagi, starring Dia Mirza and Zayed Khan, fared slightly better but the number of footfalls isn’t really encouraging. Soundtrack had few takers on the opening day.
The last week’s release Force, starring John Abraham as a narcotics officer, rounded off its first week with a collection of Rs. 21.5 crore. The movie’s collection is likely to dip in its second week and its lifelong business may not cross Rs. 27 crore.
The next Friday would see multiple release: Mujhse Fraaandship Karoge, Azaan, Mod, My Friend Pinto and Jo Dooba So Paar - It's Love In Bihar!. |
