After Gurgaon fiasco, Metallica rocks Bangalore

Putting behind them the cancellation of their maiden concert in Gurgaon, the American heavy metal band Metallica rocked Bangalore on Sunday.

The four-member band belted out some of their most popular numbers from their albums over the years. The crowd response was amazing. As many as 22,000 fans poured in at Palace Grounds to attend the band’s first concert in India. And unlike in Gurgaon, there were no organizational glitches to be seen. Close to a thousand security personnel were on their toes to make sure that no incident of vandalism take place.

The show opened with two Indian bands -- Inner Spectrum (from Bangalore) and Guillotine (from Delhi) -- setting the mood. And when the four members of Metallica -- lead vocalist James Hetfeild, guitarist Kirk Hammett, drummer Lars Ulrich, and bassist Robert Trujillo -- took stage, the roar was just deafening.

Two spells of showers before the concert had cooled the weather, good enough for the hardbred headbangers to do their thing as Metallica belted out their memorable tracks like ‘Enter Sandman’, ‘Master of Puppets’, ‘Nothing Else Matters’, ‘Unforgiven’, ‘Holier Than Thou’, ‘Wherever I May Roam’, ‘Of Wolf and Man’, ‘Creeping Death’, ‘Die Die My Darling’ and ‘That Was Just Your Life’, among others.
