After Desi Girl, it’s now the turn of Desi Boyz, and if you did shake a leg with Desi Girl -- who else but Priyanka Chopra -- then with Desi Boyz you can bring the whole house down.
Fun full-throttle! After delivering a musical hit Mausam, the bong music composer Pritam is back with another soundtrack, which is no serious affair like his previous work, and he teams up with the industry’s best lyricists -- Irshad Kamil, Kumaar and Amitabh Bhattacharya. Wanna rock n roll, you fellas? Desi Boyz has pluck aplenty to make you let your hair down.
The first track itself gives a thunderous start to the album. The full-of-pep Desi Boyz track is as animated as it can be - John Abraham and Akshay Kumar grooving in front of girls. Ooh-la-la! The sight is a delight and so is the song from party hoppers to auto drivers. Did you make some noise? Now make some space for another version of it: Desi Boyz - Remix. The track delves into the energetic discotheque numbers from Bolly la-la land. Pritam is quite an expert in creating these songs and he is at it again! Indeed, the best man in the circuit.
After the fun-tastic beginning with Desi Boyz, Pritam lines up another zippy number Subah Hone Na De. Just like the title track, this number also carries the punch. The happy pop feel in the song mixed with Pritam’s Bollywood style of music delivers us yet again a jolly track for good. No wonder, the song comes up with the regular dose of Bollywood razzmatazz, and after listening to it, no one would mind going footloose. Subah Hone Na De - Remix continues with its entertaining pop-zing. Mika and Shefali Alvares’ vocals sound terrific in this version.
It’s getting loud in here but not bizarre. Sonu Nigam wields microphone for Allah Maaf Kare and continues the bouncy feel of the album. But it’s Shilpa Rao’s sassy vocals that add spice to the track. Tracks like this come every year, and yet again the unconstrained melody of this one leaves us in high spirits. Ah! we just sound like a Bollywood music fan. The remix version of Allah Maaf Kare can be easily called a trance version. The use of trance techno helps the song to sound a wee bit different but the original is a way better.
Let It Be in the voice of Shaan makes up for a romantic track which was missing in the album. Though Bollywood boasts a list of great tracks in regular roothna-manana genre, this song can join the league. The song has a superb tune, even though Shaan is wasted in this track. Hope to listen something soothing from him soon.
When a romantic ballad meets balle balle, aha! Here is another hearty track which has already created ripples on TV. The upbeat tune of Jhak Maar Ke is not without a gal’s nakhra while a madly-in-love guy has eyes only for her. Neeraj Shridhar does an admirable job as he belts out this romantic track with élan. Harshdeep Kaur’s dramatic voice modulation induces cheerful, entertaining musical strain to the song, making it one of the best numbers in the soundtrack. The Jhak Maar Ke - Remix is a speedy version of it. Thoroughly enjoyable when played loud!
So we are happily doing English thumke jam jam ke with the gleeful snappy tracks of Desi Boyz. As the movie is a hard core entertainer, compositions do good justice to its comic theme. The tracks with their carnivalesque feel move at a spanking pace and gives us what we require the most: the ENJOYMENT.
You would love to listen to Jhak Maar Ke, Subah Hone De and the title track Desi Boyz.
