Box office verdict: 'Ra.One' fails to beat 'Bodyguard'
Shahrukh Khan’s magnum opus Ra.One hasn’t really had a dream run at the box office. And those who expected the movie to break the record held by Salman Khan’s Bodyguard are now eating their words.

Ra.One released on November 26 and completed its first week with a collection of Rs. 92 crore nett which is considerably less than the record of Rs. 100 crore first-week collection held by Salman Khan’s blockbuster Bodyguard, released earlier this year.

It took Ra.One about ten days to hit the Rs. 100 crore mark and its second weekend added another 9 crore to its kitty.

So the total collection of Ra.One presently stands about Rs. 110 crore, which is less than what many were expecting. The film can’t be dubbed as a hit yet, because it was made at a mammoth budget of Rs. 145 crore.

Meanwhile, the new releases of last Friday -- Loot and Miley Naa Miley Hum -- failed to cash in on the plummeting fortune of Ra.One. Both the films opened to a dismal response from the audience.

The movie that everyone is eagerly waiting for is Imtiaz Ali’s Rockstar, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Nargis Fakhri. The film releases this Friday.
