Emraan Hashmi says 'The Dirty Picture' is bold but not obscene

'The Dirty Picture' has bold and provocative concept: Emraan Hashmi
In a unique bid to catch the attention, actor Emraan Hashmi promoted his upcoming film The Dirty Picture right outside the Parliament in Delhi.

While talking to reporters, Hashmi tried to clear certain misconceptions going around about the film. The first one being that the film has dollops of skin show, courtesy the feisty Vidya Balan.

“The Dirty Picture is bold and provocative in its concept but does not have any drastic skin show. Boldness and vulgarity are very subjective and depend on one's mind,” Emraan Hashmi clarified.

He added that the film isn’t obscene either.

“It is not obscene. We have been censored and it has been certified as an A certificate movie,” Emraan said.

The actor also denied that The Dirty Picture is a biography of the south siren Silk Smitha.

“It is not a movie about Silk Smitha. It has a character called Silk. We took this name for Silk Smitha was the quintessential item icon of the day. It is a fictitious movie about the south film industry of the 80s,” Emraan Hashmi said.

Talking about promoting the movie outside parliament, Emraan said: “Well, it is an unusual way to promote the movie but we have exhausted all other ways to promote the film.”

The Dirty Picture is directed by Milan Luthria and has Vidya Balan playing a character named Silk. The film will release on December 2.
