Vidya Balan loves to take on challenges and prove to herself, more than to others, that she can go out of the rut and play a role that many would squirm at the thought of doing.
She’s pulled off a coup of sorts in this Friday’s release The Dirty Picture, which features a whole lot of skin show from Vidya Balan, including some steamy scenes with co-star Naseeruddin Shah.
Vidya says she was able to do these scenes because she knew they were absolutely necessary for the film. Moreover, director Milan Luthria made sure few people were on the sets during the shooting of such scenes.
“In such scenes, we made sure few people are there on sets. I knew it was required for the story to go ahead...it was part of the script,” Vidya Balan is quoted as saying by a news agency.
Moreover, the actress was put at ease by her co-star Naseeruddin Shah, with whom she first worked in Ishqiya. Despite the age difference between Vidya and Naseeruddin Shah, the actress says they gelled well on the sets.
“The age difference did not matter much with him (Naseeruddin Shah). When you face an actor like Naseeruddin, he can make you believe in anything. He is a brilliant actor. And I have worked with Naseer saheb earlier. He is one of the living legends. You feel absolutely comfortable, I was not at all uncomfortable,” Vidya said.
Vidya still can’t get over the amusement she felt while shooting “Ooh La La” with Naseeruddin Shah.
“When we were dancing in the midst of oranges it was hilarious. We were laughing like mad, dancing between pots, posing like old sculptures. We had to roll down a slope. It is not easy, more than (getting) hurt, I couldn't control my laughter.” Vidya is quoted to have said.
