Vidya Balan wants obscenity case quashed Vidya Balan
Quite unexpectedly, Vidya Balan landed in a soup recently when the Nallakunta police filed a criminal case against her for promoting ‘obscenity’ through the posters of her movie The Dirty Picture. The actress has now moved court to seek the quashing of the case.

Vidya Balan and producer Ekta Kapoor on Wednesday filed a petition in the High Court seeking to quash the criminal case filed by Nallakunta police on December 17.

The complainant, Sai Krishna Azad, a practicing advocate, had last month approached the court in Hyderabad and filed a petition, in which, he had alleged that the posters and promos of the film were "obscene" and were "causing inconvenience to women" in the Nallakunta area and other parts of Hyderabad.

Following a court directive, a case was booked against Vidya Balan under Section 294 (Obscene acts and songs) and relevant sections under the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, 1986.
