Nanban scores big in box office collections

Cashing in on the Pongal holiday, Nanban and Vettai are making waves at the box office. Nanban has reportedly already crossed Rs. 50 crores in box office collections. With positive movie reviews the movies are expected to continue their run at the box office.

Nanban is the Tamil version of the hit Bollywood movie 3 Idiots. The film features an ensemble cast that includes Vijay, Jeeva, Srikanth and Sathyaraj. Vijay steps into the shoes of Aamir Khan while Jeeva gets to essay the role of Sharman Joshi and narrator Madhavan is played by Srikanth. And Sathyaraj creates the weirdness of Boman Irani’s character of an oddball professor in Nanban. Ileana plays Vijay's ladylove in the movie.

The movie opened to an overwhelming response with over 90% occupancy and has continued its dream run over the weekend. As per reports the movie had first day box office collections of Rs. 15 crores, and the tally now stands at approximately Rs. 57 crores.

The chemistry between Vijay, Jeeva and Srikanth is the film's USP. Vijay is said to have given his career's best performance. Equally pivotal is his chemistry with Ileana, the passionate lip-lock between Vijay and Ileana has become the talk of town and given the movie an additional boost.
