After ecstasy comes a pang of agony for the makers of Agneepath as the film first registered a record setting opening at the box office on Thursday but saw a shocking fall in collections on Friday. What’s happening?
Well, no need to press the panic button yet. Firstly, the humongous opening (between Rs 23 and 25 crore) the film raked in on Thursday could be attributed to the national holiday on account of the Republic Day in India. The footfalls were expected to drop on Friday, but none had anticipated the collections to go nosediving.
Agneepath reportedly made between Rs. 11 crore to 12 crore on its second day which is more than a 50 percent fall in collections, something to jolt the distributors and the producers who had somewhat prematurely started celebrating the film’s success.
The film’s collections are expected to rise on Saturday and Sunday, but it remains to be seen if it touches the Rs. 60 crore mark in the four-day weekend. As per estimates, the film’s extended weekend earning may fall between Rs. 50 and 55 crore.
Another thing everyone is eager to see is whether Agneepath will enter the Rs. 100 crore club.
The film has got rave reviews and almost every actor has been praised for their performance.
The next Friday offers no competition to Agneepath. The next major release would be Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu on February 10. The movie, coincidentally, is also produced by Karan Johar, the producer of Agneepath.
