Amy Jackson has come out in support of the romantic song ‘Hosanna’ from her film Ek Deewana Tha. The song has been in the thick of a controversy over hurting the religious sentiments of Christians.
The term ‘Hosanna’ is sacred to both Christians and Jews alike. It is a prayer from the Bible and seeing it transformed into a love song filmed on Prateik Babbar and Amy Jackson in Ek Deewana Tha did raise a few hackles.
But Amy Jackson, who is herself a Christian, says there is no intention to hurt anyone’s feelings.
“I am a Christian and since the age of five I have been singing...chanting hymns containing the word 'Hosanna'. When I heard the song for the first time, it literally touched my heart. It is a beautiful song. It is about love and who can ask for more than love. I never felt that the song would hurt people's sentiments,” says Amy Jackson in defence of the song.
“If you look from my point of view that's what Christians strive for -- love from God. And that is what the song is about,” said Amy who is presently said to be in love with her co-star Prateik Babbar.
In the movie Ek Deewana Tha as well, Amy Jackson plays a Malayali Christian named Jessie.
