Box office report: 'Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu' has a dull start

This Friday’s release Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu has opened to a dull start at the box office, despite aggressive promotions by the film’s lead actors Imran Khan and Kareena Kapoor.

The movie opened to a dismal response at ticket windows on Friday morning and the footfalls weren’t greater in the evening either. Contrarily, the film has got very good reviews from the critics, with almost everyone praising the performances by Imran Khan and Kareena Kapoor and also appreciating debutant Shakun Batra’s direction.

Now, all hopes are pinned on the film’s business on Saturday and Sunday. Moreover, given that the film is a romantic comedy, it should pull crowds on Tuesday, which happens to be the Valentine’s Day.

For now, a lot of people in the industry are surprised --unpleasantly, of course -- over the film’s below-the-mark opening at box office.

Meanwhile, the last week’s release Gali Gali Chor Hai has sunk without a trace. FLOP.

On the other hand, Agneepath continued its formidable run and raked in another Rs. 24 crore in its second week. The total tally now stands at Rs. 115 crore nett, which makes the movie a SUPERHIT.

The coming week would see the release of Ek Deewana Tha, starring Prateik Babbar and Amy Jackson.
