Amitabh Bachchan’s abdominal surgery successful

Amitabh Bachchan today underwent a surgery for abdominal pain at Seven Hills Hospital in Mumbai. The surgery has gone off well and the superstar is now resting in his room at the hospital.

Abhishek Bachchan confirmed the news on Twitter: “Thank you all for your wishes and prayers. The surgery went off well and dad is now in the room resting.”

Outside the hospital a doctor told reporters: “He is very stable... I will not comment on his medical condition, it is his personal thing. All I can say is that he underwent an abdomen surgery.”

Amitabh Bachchan has described his abdominal pain as the legacy of the fatal injury on the sets of Coolie in 1982. He was injured while shooting a fight scene with co-star Puneet Issar. Big B was hospitalized for many months after the injury.

In 2005, he underwent a bowel surgery.
Today, while Big B was undergoing surgery, a doctor apprised the media of the development by saying: “He got admitted today morning and he is undergoing surgery right now and the surgery is going on well.”

It’s not yet clear how many days Amitabh Bachchan will have to stay in the hospital for his recovery from surgery.
