Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu makes Rs. 21 crore in first weekend

Box office report: 'Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu' picks up over the weekend
After the alarmingly low first-day collection, the new Bollywood release Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu picked up on Saturday and Sunday to round off a decent first weekend at box office.

The film’s first-day collection of Rs. 5.25 crore was at best jittery and did shock a lot of people in the industry because the movie had been promoted extensively by its lead actors Imran Khan and Kareena Kapoor. However, the misgivings were cast away on Saturday as the film picked up substantially at ticket windows.

The business of Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu rose to Rs. 7.5 crore on Saturday, with the best response coming from multiplexes. The film’s youthful romantic comedy seems to have clicked with the youngsters and the positive reviews have only added to greater footfalls.

On Sunday, the business peaked with a collection of Rs. 8.25 crore.

Totting up the numbers, we arrive at the aggregate figure of Rs. 21 crore (approx) for the film’s first weekend business. This is a good figure and will boost the confidence of the distributors.

However, expecting the film to enter the Rs. 100 crore club would be wishful thinking. There’s no likelihood of that.

But the business of Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu will spike on Tuesday which is Valentine’s day.

The coming Friday would see the release of Ek Deewana Tha, starring Prateik Babbar and Amy Jackson.
