Generally there is only one ending to a film, but this week’s upcoming release Ekk Deewana Tha will perhaps be the first film in Bollywood history which will release with two endings. The director Gautham Menon and Fox Star Studios have decided to release the film with two endings across the country.
Gautham Menon has planned one mainstream ending for the masses. This version will be released in 500+ screens in India. However, the other ending which is going to be the Director’s Cut, with a different end, will be showcased only in 20 selected theatres across the country.
Talking about this latest development in Ekk Deewana Tha, which was not earlier planned, Vijay Singh of Fox Star Studios says, “The newspaper listings will highlight this fact as well.” He later added that it’s an interesting development without doubt and it could pave way for similar efforts if the concept of two endings clicks with the audience.
Starring Prateik Babbar and Brit hottie Amy Jackson, Ekk Deewana Tha is the Hindi remake of Menon’s Tamil hit Vinnaithandi Varuvaya, simultaneously made in Telugu as Ye Maaya Chesave which had a different climax. Both the south films became superhit. But, Gautham Menon wanted a different end for the movie’s Hindi version Ekk Deewana Tha which is apparently not similar to either Vinnaithandi Varuvaya or Ye Maaya Chesave.
Releasing on February 17, this week, Ekk Deewana Tha will continue the Valentine’s Day celebrations for youngsters. Also the movie’s songs are chartbusters.
