|Saif Ali Khan could land in trouble as the police is reported to have a strong case against the actor after hearing the account of eyewitnesses to the midnight brawl at a Mumbai hotel.
Firstly, Saif Ali Khan’s clarification of what happened at the scuffle between him (joined by his friends Shakeel Ladak and Bilal Amrohi) and the NRI businessman Iqbal Sharma was littered with apologies. Saif continually stressed on how he could have reacted differently and how he could have set a better example. And he conceded that he reacted in self-defence because he was attacked first, yet there was no sign of physical injury on him. On the other hand, Iqbal Sharma has presented the medical reports to the Colaba police confirming the injury on his nose. Sharma alleges that Saif punched him on the nose and broke it.
But what could land Saif in serious trouble is the account of the eyewitnesses, who are mainly the hotel staff as the restaurant was empty save for Saif and his friends and Iqbal Sharma and his family at that time of the Tuesday night.
According to sources, police has taken the statements of the hotel staff and most of the accounts corroborate with what Sharma has alleged.
Moreover, legal experts say that even if Saif Ali Khan and his friends were provoked into physical aggression by Iqbal Sharma and his father-in-law Raman Patel, that doesn’t extenuate the physical assault.
As of now, both the parties have slapped complaints against each other, but the case seems more tilted in Sharma’s favour. However, the police is still investigating to get to the bottom of the scuffle.
