Saif Ali Khan’s dream project Agent Vinod has found its takers at box office. The film rounded off its opening weekend with a decent collection of Rs. 27 crore.
All the publicity blitz that Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor undertook before the release of Agent Vinod seems to have paid off. The film opened on Friday with a collection of Rs. 10 crore. The collections dipped down to Rs. 8 crore on Saturday, but the exhibitors heaved a sigh of relief on Sunday with greater footfalls pushing the collection for the day to Rs. 9 crore. Totting up the figures gives us the first weekend aggregate of Rs. 27 crore net approximately, which is a decent sum.
Moreover, since the film has been made on a budget of roughly Rs. 50 crore with an additional cost of promotion and publicity amounting Rs. 12 crore, it has already recovered a fat part of the costs via music rights and satellite rights (somewhere around Rs. 30 crore). It needs to recover only Rs. 32 crore to avoid losses, out of which Rs. 27 crore is already in its kitty.
Agent Vinod is expected to round off its first week run at theatres with a collection in the close range of Rs. 40 crore.
Meanwhile, Vidya Balan’s Kahaani has turned out to be a very profitable venture. Likewise, Paan Singh Tomar can also be declared a hit.
The coming Friday would see the release of Blood Money, starring Kunal Khemu and Amrita Puri. Another release would be a small budget film Bumboo.
