Abhinav Kashyap, the most promising director of 2010, thanks to his blockbuster Dabangg, is now ready to direct his second film. He has reportedly roped in Ranbir Kapoor to play the lead role.
The movie, we hear, will be set in Mumbai and will have Ranbir Kapoor playing a tapori. It would be a street-smart character, with humour, attitude and clever oneliners that Ranbir is expected to deliver in an unalloyed tapori accent.
Abhinav Kashyap himself will co-produce this film with Viacom 18.
With this film, Ranbir Kapoor has become the one and only male star in Bollywood to be working with both the Kashyap brothers: Anurag Kashyap and Abhinav Kashyap.
Ranbir has already signed Anurag Kashyap’s period film Bombay Velvet for which the director originally wanted Aamir Khan but gave up persuading the star after getting no positive response from Aamir.
In fact, Ranbir presently has an interesting mix of roles in his kitty. He’s playing a deaf and mute character in Anurag Basu’s Barfee and a full-on loverboy in good friend Ayaan Mukherjee’s Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani.
