Box office: 'Housefull 2' inching closer to 100 crore club

Housefull 2 looks all set to enter the elite Rs. 100 crore club this week, while the new release Bittoo Boss opened poorly at box office.

Bittoo Boss, despite good publicity and also the moral support of a superstar like Salman Khan, opened poorly at ticket windows on Friday with a paltry collection of just Rs. 40 lakh. The business did rise marginally on Saturday and Sunday (Rs. 45 lakh), but the aggregate of Rs. 1.30 crore for the first weekend is way below the mark. The film, starring newcomer Pulkit Samrat opposite Amita Pathak, isn’t likely to pick up during the week.

On the other hand, Housefull 2 continued its good run at theatres. It rounded off its first week at Rs. 64 crore and added another Rs. 20 crore to its kitty over its second weekend, taking the total ten-day collection to Rs. 84 crore. The film’s collection is expected to be in mid-nineties by Wednesday and before the end of this week we might hear the good news of the film entering Rs. 100 crore club. It would be the first Akshay Kumar starrer to achieve that mark.

The coming Friday sees the release of two films: Hate Story starring Paoli Dam and Vicky Donor starring Ayushmaan Khurrana.
