He ran away from his marriage with Bipasha in the movie Bachna Ae Haseeno; in fact, Ranbir Kapoor is never seen as a dulha in any of his films. However, in Anurag Basu’s movie Barfee, things are a little different.
Not only Ranbir plays a deaf and mute character for the first time in his career, he will also be seen as a Bengali bridegroom with traditional topor (hat), kurta and dhoti. Not to be missed is his forehead adorned with white bindis.
Director Anurag Basu said that Ranbir Kapoor’s look as a bridegroom was for a swayamvar sequence, but later added that he was kidding. While talking to a tabloid, he revealed that this is a fun wedding sequence, and he enjoyed making Ranbir enact the role of a young Bengali man.
While shooting for the marriage sequence, it’s reported that both the actresses -- Priyanka Chopra and Ileana D’Cruz -- were present on the sets, but who is exactly getting married to Ranbir is suspense. Whoever be the bride, dulha Ranbir Kapoor looks awesome in this garb; also he makes a funny face when this pic was taken.
The film is produced by UTV Motion Pictures. In it Ranbir Kapoor plays a deaf and mute Bengali boy, while Priyanka Chopra essays the role of an autistic girl. Ileana D’Cruz is the other female lead in the film. Earlier the movie was titled Silence, but later its name was changed to Barfee. Anurag has shot a major chunk of the film in Darjeeling, and also in Kolkata.
Barfee is set to release on July 13, and has as many as 10-12 songs.
