Box office: Akshay Kumar’s 'Rowdy Rathore' off to a roaring start!
'Rowdy Rathore' is a rage at single screen theatres; response also good at multiplexes

Box office: Akshay Kumar’s 'Rowdy Rathore' off to a roaring start!
Akshay Kumar’s new release Rowdy Rathore has hit the bull’s eye at single screen box office. The film is expected to have a good first weekend collections.

Starring Sonakshi Sinha and directed by Prabhu Deva, Rowdy Rathore took off to a flying start at single screen theatres, with the occupancy ranging from 90 percent to 100 percent. The response at multiplexes was somewhat muted, ranging from 60 to 70 percent, but is expected to pick up over the weekend.

Though the figures of the film’s first-day collections hasn’t arrived yet, it is expected to have the Friday collection of around Rs. 15 crore, if not more.

The critical reviews have been mixed and the audience response too has wavered from approval to outright rejection, but the vibe surrounding the movie is positive and it is expected to do better business in the coming days.

On the other hand, Department, starring a slew of actors and featuring new cinematography techniques, has emerged a disaster with lifetime business of only Rs. 12 crore.

Ishaqzaade continued its good run at theatres and has crossed the Rs. 45 crore mark at box office.

The next Friday would see the release of director Dibakar Banerjee’s film Shanghai.
