Rowdy Rathore, a rage at box office since its release on June 1, has now entered the Rs. 100 crore club. This is the second Akshay Kumar-starrer to enter the club this year.
Time for the Rowdy Rathore team to celebrate. After a ten-day run at theatres, the film has finally cruised past the Rs. 100 crore mark. Starring Akshay Kumar, Sonakshi Sinha and south actor Nasser in principal roles, the film got off to a flying start in its first weekend and raked in Rs. 48 crore. The film made another Rs. 31 crore from Monday to Thursday and added Rs. 22 crore to its kitty over the second weekend. Just on the Sunday of its second weekend, the film did a business in excess of Rs. 10 crore.
The aggregate collection of Rowdy Rathore after its ten-day run at box office stands at Rs. 101 crore, which makes it a surefire blockbuster.
The movie got mixed reviews from critics but has struck a chord with the masses, particularly at single screen theatres.
On the other hand, the new release Shanghai, despite glowing reviews, mustered a strictly average run in its first weekend at box office. The film collected a little over Rs. 12 crore approx. Though the collection is below the mark, the producers won’t be dejected because they needed to make only Rs. 4.75 crore at box office for the film to breakeven and begin making profits.
