First look - Stylish Sridevi goes desi for ‘English Vinglish’
Catch the first look of Sridevi’s comeback film, 'English Vinglish'

She has been acting since she was four, and couldn’t resist the temptation of being on the silver screen when a right script came her way. After staying away from celluloid for a good fourteen years, the stylish Sridevi is making her comeback with the film English Vinglish, which is directed by R. Balki’s wife Gauri Shinde.

Going all desi for her role, Sridevi will be seen as a housewife, who does not know English and is made to feel insecure by her family and society at large. Shot extensively in New York, English Vinglish is a light-hearted yet touching and transformational journey of Shashi, played by Sridevi.

Circumstances make her determined to overcome this insecurity, master the language, and teach the world a lesson on the way to becoming a self assured and confident woman. Thus begins her journey, which at the same time is hilarious and emotional too.

The movie also stars French actor Mehdi Nebbou, Adil Hussain and Priya Anand. Amitabh Bachchan will be doing a cameo in the film.

‘Money’, ‘Fame’ and the ‘Knowledge of English’ -- in India, these three factors play a huge role in how society judges an individual. The film English Vinglish has tried to capture the inherent struggle of many people all over the world with the English language, and that’s why many from the audiences can relate to it.

English Vinglish is scheduled to release on September 21, and is Sridevi’s solo release. Catch an ecstatic Sridevi on the first look of the film:
