|Of his own volition, Salman Khan recently made an online appeal to the people of Pakistan to free the jailed Indian Sarabjit Singh who’s on a death row in Pak. Thereafter, he even started an online petition calling for Sarabjit’s release.
Perhaps touched by this gesture and planning the future course of action in making stronger the clarion call for Sarabjit’s release, the sister of the prisoner and his two daughters met Salman Khan on Sunday.
“Today, Sarabjit's sister and daughters had come to meet Salman. They had come on the sets of Dabangg 2 at Mehboob Studio,” a close associate of Salman Khan is quoted as telling a news agency.
Sarabjit Singh’s sister Dalbir Kaur has been at the forefront of the campaign to press for her brother’s release from Pakistan. She is often joined by Sarabjit’s daughters, Poonam and Swapandeep. Sarabjit has been lodged inside Pakistan jail since 1990 on the charges of spying. He’s on a death row.
Last week, it was announced in the media that Sarabjit Singh has been granted pardon and would be released from the Pak jail. However, it turned out that it was Surjeet Singh, another Indian prisoner in jail for three decades, who would be released instead. The hopes of Sarabjit’s sister were dashed and it was then Salman Khan took to twitter to renew the call for Sarabjit’s release.
