Barfi! trailer is probably the best we’ve seen from Bollywood this year. Don’t miss it!

There is something decidedly Chaplinesque about Ranbir Kapoor’s character in director Anurag Basu’s movie Barfi!, the first trailer of which released last evening.
He’s mute and deaf. And rightly so the trailer of Barfi! is without a single dialogue. An interesting gamut of expressions are used to convey what words otherwise can, or even cannot. In the hill town of Darjeeling, a character named Murphy always has a prank up his sleeve. He can’t speak, but that doesn’t keep him from making a pass to a girl on the street, or mimic-lay his heart at the feet of a beauty (Ileana D’Cruz). She kicks it away and walks off. He follows her, sees a sparkle in her eye and knows she has a soft spot.
In this small town Murphy is mispronounced by everyone as Barfi. But the name suits. Barfi, despite his handicap, is a livewire. No wonder the pretty Shruti (Ileana) falls for him. But things get complex with the coming of Jhilmil (Priyanka Chopra) who is mentally challenged.
If anything, Anurag Basu’s film Barfi! promises stellar performances from its star cast. The film has music by Pritam and is produced by Ronnie Screwvala and Siddharth Roy Kapur.
Barfi! releases on September 14. From the look of the trailer, it’s a film we shouldn’t miss:
