Panned by some critics and praised by others, this Friday’s release Bol Bachchan has opened to a good response at box office and could be another hit film in director Rohit Shetty’s resumé.
The film starring Abhishek Bachchan, Ajay Devgan, Asin and Prachi Desai, opened to a favourable response at both single screen theatres and multiplexes. The best response was in Rajasthan and UP. The film wasn’t that strong in Punjab and also faced tough competition down south from the new Telugu release Eega, which is pulling in the crowds in droves.
Overall, the average response to Bol Bachchan ranged between 60 to 65 percent on Friday and the footfalls are likely to go up on Saturday and Sunday. Add to this, the lavish praises Abhishek Bachchan is getting from Bollywood fraternity for his comic timing in the film. The word of mouth will help the film notch up a good first weekend collection.
Meanwhile, the last week’s Hollywood release The Amazing Spider-man has done stupendous business at Indian box office. With Rs. 41 crore business in the first week, the film broke previous records for the opening week collections by any Hollywood film, including the James Cameron blockbuster Avatar.
Maximum, released last week, fared very poorly with a paltry first week collection of Rs. 2.25 crore.
Gangs Of Wasseypur continued to witness some favourable response and its makers even celebrated its success over the week.
