Box office: 'The Dark Knight Rises' opens with a bang!

Box office: 'The Dark Knight Rises' opens with a bang!
The Hollywood buffs in India thronged to the theatres on Friday to watch the new Batman movie The Dark Knight Rises.

The Christopher Nolan-directed film’s English version did particularly well in India, though the dubbed versions of the film didn’t see equal enthusiasm from the fans. For the dubbed versions, the opening was lower that The Amazing Spiderman, which turned out to be the highest first weekend Hollywood earner at Indian box office.

The critical reviews of The Dark Knight Rises are mixed, but the response at multiplexes has been very good. It’s clear that the film’s English version is pulling in the crowds.

Among the new Bollywood releases -- Gattu and Challo Driver -- neither fared well, despite Gattu getting glowing reviews.

The last week’s release Cocktail, meanwhile, continued its good run at theatres and collected approximately Rs. 54 crore in its first week. Alongside it, Bol Bachchan rounded off its two week run at box office with a figure of Rs. 90 crore. The film is expected to enter the Rs. 100 crore club in its third week.

Next Friday would see the release of the adult comedy Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum, starring Tusshar Kapoor and Riteish Deshmukh.
