As soon as the first trailer of Kareena Kapoor’s film Heroine went online, comparisons were drawn between Madhur Bhandarkar’s flick and The Dirty Picture.
Kareena Kapoor says she is not trying to copy anyone in her forthcoming film Heroine, the first trailer of which has raised inevitable comparisons with Vidya Balan's look in The Dirty Picture.
In a way both films hit at the same subject - the fate, rise and fall of an actress. While Vidya Balan scored a blockbuster with The Dirty Picture, Kareena Kapoor and "Heroine" director Madhur Bhandarkar insist no comparisons must be made.
"I am not getting into anybody's shoes. I am very comfortable in my own and I would say that no one will get into mine either," Kareena said at the trailer launch held here Wednesday evening.
She also said that "Heroine" has nothing similar to "The Dirty Picture", and that it is "unfair" to compare the two.
Pointing out the difference between the two films, Bhandarkar said: "I liked 'The Dirty Picture'. The film was about the rise of an item girl in the 1980s. Our film is more modern in its approach. The two films are very different and you cannot compare them."
