Shahrukh Khan is off the hook in a case pertaining to smoking in public after paying a measly fine of Rs. 100.
The superstar had drawn a lot of ire for smoking at a stadium in Rajasthan during an IPL game between Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on April 8.
Anand Singh, who runs the Jaipur Cricket Academy, had filed the petition in the court complaining against Shahrukh’s smoking act in open view of the cameras. The case was filed under section 5 read with 11 of Rajasthan Prohibition of Smoking Act, 2000, which prohibits smoking at a public places.
The case was settled recently when Shahrukh Khan pleaded ‘guilty’ of smoking through his counsel in a Jaipur court. The court told the actor to play a fine of Rs. 100.
SRK’s counsel agreed to pay the fine and the case was finally closed.
This was not the first time -- but hopefully the last -- when Shahrukh Khan has landed in the law’s net for smoking in public.
