It’s a war that will destroy everything in its path -- Chakravyuh. After directing movies like Mrityudand, Gangajal and Raajneeti, director Prakash Jha is back with yet another political thriller Chakravyuh based on the burning issue of naxalism faced by the nation. This time the maverick filmmaker has actors like Arjun Rampal, Abhay Deol and Manoj Bajpayee as his cast. What else one can ask for?
The trailer of Chakravyuh gives a peek on the complete package; though it’s a film based on a political issue, Jha has tried to make it as Bollywoodish as it can be. Chakravyuh is actually the story of two best friends, torn apart because of their choices. One serves the police (Arjun Rampal), while the other (Abhay Deol), in order to help him, gets into the labyrinth of naxalism to dig out information, soon to realize that he is treading the wrong path.
The trailer which runs for more than four minutes not only shows the two friends at loggerheads, but also others who are involved in the drama. Manoj Bajpayee as a revolutionary naxal is impressive; also one can see Esha Gupta, an IPS officer, mouthing weighty dialogues and emoting well.
Besides the lead cast, the one who completely bowls one over in the trailer is the newcomer Anjali Patil, who plays a female naxalite, and Abhay Deol’s love interest. Another actor who needs special mention is Om Puri. He plays the professor, the mentor, the ideologue. His character is said to be inspired from the Maoist leader Kobad Ghandy.
Laced with action sequences, the trailer leaves nothing to imagination rather discloses the plot line and also showcases the main characters.
Chakravyuh will release on October 24. You can enjoy the trailer of the film here:
