Getting slapped by Sonam Kapoor could have been a perfect occasion for the south star Dhanush to re-sing ‘Why This Kolaveri Di’ (Why this killer rage, girl), but the chartbuster is now well passé and the duo was shooting for the Bollywood film Raanjhnaa in Varanasi.

You may rub your eyes in disbelief after reading this, but Sonam Kapoor and Dhanush play 17-year-old school going youths in this film by Anand L Rai.

In Raanjhnaa, Dhanush plays a Brahmin boy, named Kundan Choubey, from Varanasi. Sonam Kapoor plays a girl named Zoya.

The Varanasi shooting schedule began on Tuesday outside Ramnagar Fort. Sonam Kapoor was dressed as a school girl in a checkered knee-length dress and her hair was plaited. Dhanush’s school boy look had him in a white shirt and blue trousers.

The scene apparently being shot was when Dhanush escorts Sonam Kapoor outside a school complex and proposes his love, only to be reciprocated with a tight slap.

Raanjhnaa is a love story. It is produced by Krishika Lulla and slated to release later this year.
