|Here’s good news for Vikram Bhatt whose last film Dangerous Ishq bit the dust at box office. Raaz 3, starring Emraan Hashmi, Bipasha Basu and Esha Gupta, has taken off to a flying start at ticket windows.
The film has got mixed reviews from the critics, but going by the footfalls it attracted for the special paid previews on Thursday evening and on Friday, the film looks set to be yet another feather in the Bhatts’ well plumed hat of hit films.
The audience response was particularly good at single screen theatres and multiplexes screening the movie in 3D. The paid previews garnered around Rs. 58 lakh on Thursday, while the film’s Friday collection stands between Rs. 10.30 crore to 10.50 crore nett. It is the best opening a solo Emraan Hashmi or Bipasha Basu film has garnered.
It must also be mentioned here that an opening day collection to the excess of Rs. 10 crore is always deemed good, and Raaz 3 is the 16th Bollywood film ever to cross that milestone on the opening day.
Going by the estimates, ‘Raaz 3’ is expected to have a first weekend in the range of Rs. 27 crore to 33 crore nett, which would be excellent.
Now, onto some bad news. The last week’s release Joker, starring Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha and directed by Shirish Kunder, rounded off its first week with a paltry collection of Rs. 20 crore nett. FLOP.
Meanwhile, Salman Khan’s Ek Tha Tiger rounded off three weeks at theatres with Rs. 183 crore net.
Next Friday would see the release of Barfi! starring Ranbir Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra and Ileana D'Cruz.
