|After playing a God in Omg Oh My God!, Akshay Kumar’s perception about the God and religion has changed. The actor, who is a devout believer of Goddess Durga, and is a regular visitor at the Vaishnodevi temple in Jammu, says that he will stop visiting temples and holy shrines from now on.
When almost entire Bollywood is obsessed with temple visits, what’s the reason behind this big change in Akshay Kumar? The star reveals that it happened when he was watching the play Kanji Virrudh Kanji, on which his movie Omg Oh My God! is based.
Father of a newborn daughter, Akshay Kumar tells a tabloid, “I want to ask everyone their definition of a mandir! The real meaning of the term is mann ke andar, which means that God resides within us. When I was watching the play Kanji Virrudh Kanji (the film is based on it), I was laughing throughout and when it ended I was stunned. That’s when I underwent this profound change.”
The Rowdy Rathore actor says that he used to regularly visit the shrines and temples all across the country, and realized that he spent lakhs on each trip, besides other expenses like traveling with an entourage, and staying in five star hotels. Now, the actor has decided to donate the amount to the cancer patients at a Parel hospital.
Through his Omg Oh My God!, Akshay wants to teach people the real significance of God. He admits being a changed man now.
Omg Oh My God! is releasing this Friday on September 28, and Akshay Kumar has high hopes from this film. Not to forget, his last release Joker was a BO dud.
