|Aishwarya Rai is happy and content playing a hands-on mother to her daughter Aaradhya Bachchan, now of 10 months. But at the same time her return to the spotlight has also garnered tremendous buzz.
After staying away from Bollywood for almost a year, Aishwarya Rai is gearing up for a fresh innings, and some meaningful cinema. According to a daily, the beautiful actress already has a script to which she’s taken fancy, a script offered to her by none other than Mani Ratnam, who launched Aishwarya in the south film industry with Iruvar (Ash’s first film).
Ash and Ratnam are quite close to each other. They go back a long way. They worked together in Guru, the same year she got married; and then both came together in 2010 for Raavan. “Whenever Ratnam has offered Ash a role or a script she has always respected it. This time too, it was the same,” a source is quoted as saying.
So, what’s the script about? It’s Mani Ratnam's adaptation of Daphne Du Maurier's famous 1938 novel Rebecca. Aishwarya Rai will play the character of Mrs de Winter in the film. The novel Rebecca tells the story of a newly married woman who is constantly compared to the first wife of her husband by the housekeeper. While she feels belittled by the shadow of the deceased lady of the house, she later realizes that her husband was never in love earlier.
According to the sources, Ratnam is currently working on the script and is trying to do his best in adapting the entire novel into a more contemporary Indian setup.
Aishwarya Rai is reading some other scripts as well and at the same time is savoring the little pleasures of motherhood. If things go as planned then the film will go on floors by late next year and is expected to hit the theatres in 2014.
